Biotech startups take over NGIN Workplace’s shared office space.
With powerhouses like Nanobiotix, Emulate, Cure Forward, and Option Grid, NGIN Workplace has earned its reputation of being an exciting center for the biotech industry right in Kendall Square. NGIN is host to many companies that are innovating the industry and are responsible for exciting breakthroughs in the medical field. Our shared office space hosts companies that are leading the research of cancer, ALS, Alzheimer’s, and HIV/AIDS, to name a few. Biotech startups at NGIN Workplace are also working on revolutionizing the way the medical field works for patients and doctors, finding new ways to make the process of finding treatment options much easier.
Longtime members, Nanobiotix, a Paris based nanomedicine company, calls NGIN Workplace their US home. Nanobiotix is a leader in nanomedicine, working towards a cancer treatment using nanoparticles to maximize the effect of radiotherapy. Since 2014, their Cambridge branch has been opting for NGIN’s shared office space. The convenience of a shared office space has allowed Nanobiotix the time to focus on all the grunt work necessary to get their company off the ground in the United States. At their NGIN office, Nanobiotix has been busy with startup activities, recruiting employees, and raising money.
CEO of Nanobiotix USA, Patrick Tricoli raves about the benefits of a coworking office that an ordinary office just can’t provide. One of the major benefits: constantly meeting and sharing ideas with fellow entrepreneurs.
“The proximity was key,” said Tricoli about working so close to other biotech startups. “When you meet people, and talk with people, and make a relationship, it’s key.”
In the two years at NGIN, Nanobiotix has been approved by the FDA to launch clinical studies in the states, its first big step in the US market. In addition, Nanobiotix has made recent news by establishing promising preclinical proof-of-concept in immuno oncology.
Nanobiotix is not alone. Across the office, Emulate Bio Inc., a company with the technology to emulate human biology to study the effects of diseases and medicine on the human body, has recently secured $28 million in Series B financing to commercialize its “organ-on-a-chip.” Proceeds will help advance their development and place their product in the hands of researchers.
Last year, Cure Forward launched a web service that connects cancer patients with clinical trials. The minds behind Cure Forward are connecting patients with cutting edge treatment and creating a much more approachable interface for patients and doctors.
Our members at Option Grid are also helping patients who are making tough decisions. They have compiled crucial information into a simple format to help patient compare alternative treatment options.
