As the days get colder, it becomes more difficult for many of us to be excited about going to work in the morning. For entrepreneurs and startups, the simple solution of working from home may seem like a great idea; however, it may not be. Although there are some clear benefits from working from home such as not having to commute there can be many disadvantages, especially in the colder months.
Creativity is arguably one of the most important qualities for any entrepreneur to possess. All ideas, big or small, start with a creative spark. As an entrepreneur, it is important to bring that creative spark day in and day out to continue with the growth of those ideas. Cold and dreary weather can make it easy to turn off the right side of your brain. However, there are many ways to ignite your creative spark-even on the dreariest of days. One sure way to do so is to be around a community of people that you can brainstorm with and tap into their brainpower to ignite your own.
The sense of community of a coworking space isn’t easy to get at home. You don’t get the sense of networking at lunch in your home as you do in the bistro of your coworking space. Also, wine and cheese nights just aren’t the same without other entrepreneurs celebrating their successes by your side. It may be easy to overlook this sense of community when making the decision to commute to the office in the snow, but the creativity it sparks is unmatched.
Productivity is important for an entrepreneur any time of the year. When working from home on a cold day, it may be tempting to cozy up with a blanket while trying to get work done. Although this may be an appealing option, it can make being productive difficult. This is where your coworking space comes in. Productivity-inspired energy is something that NGIN strives for every day throughout the office space, especially bleak days where many people would probably rather be in that blanket with a good book. This energy comes from different aspects of the office- the colors, brightness, and of course healthy snacks and hot coffee options like a cappuccino or delicious espresso to get you going. The bright yellow accents of the office particularly help in the winter, as they give off fresh energy in the midst of bleak days. Being in the positive atmosphere gives entrepreneurs and startups a kick-start to their creative engines.
If you have the option this year whether to work from home or make the commute to your coworking space, just think of how productive you will be and how much creativity you will find with the help of a bright office community. We look forward to seeing you at NGIN Workplace to share a hot chocolate!
